Making Banbury’s Canal Heritage

Traditional crafts, passed to new generations

Tooley’s Boatyard is where Banbury’s canal heritage is still made by hand. Since 1778, craftspeople have built and repaired boats here. Today, we continue that story through wooden boatbuilding, steel fabrication, blacksmithing and traditional Roses and Castles painting.

We welcome visitors, run courses and train apprentices, keeping endangered skills alive while giving people the chance to experience creativity, craftsmanship and working history at the heart of the town.

Banbury bid:

Where business, community and creativity meet.

Supporting town centre businesses.

Banbury BID is behind much of the colour, ever-changing events, and everyday buzz in the town centre. Funded by local businesses, we bring people into the heart of Banbury through trails, events and public art.

Our recent Banbury Futures mural saw primary school children draw the town they want to grow up in and choose its colours, while more than 150 local dogs found their way into the artwork and a town-wide dog art trail. Come and explore.
